Trumark Companies’ master-planned development division Trumark Communities announced TruLiving, a new model for age-qualified communities that will be registered under the WELL Building Standard. In a press statement, co-founder and principal of Trumark Mike Mapes said:

“[W]e’re using a new kind of delivery and positioning that doesn’t categorize the audience, but engages them. What we call the ‘unAQ’. TruLiving is about living life and living healthy. It’s ageless, distinct and disruptive and it’s an evolved way to look at 55+ that’s more inspiring, diverse and interesting.”

TruLiving communities will incorporate the seven concepts of the WELL Building Standard: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind. Amenities will include fitness facilities, gathering spaces, and social events such as volunteer opportunities and educational cooking or music classes. On the TruLiving mobile app, residents can view upcoming community gatherings, schedule exercise classes, and more. Construction on the first TruLiving community, located in Manteca, Calif., began in January. The Bay Area community will include 490 single-family homes and a 10,00-square-foot clubhouse.
