Timber-Trumarkhomes

The advantages of buying a Shade or Canopy home at Timber in Newark, California are obvious on your first visit there. You can choose from six different floor plans sized up to 2,405 square feet complete with premium kitchen appliances, energy-saving tankless water heaters, and 10-foot ceilings in the main living areas. But you’ll need to venture outside of your impressive new residence to get to work, take the kids to school, or go grocery-shopping. So the area around your Trumark enclave becomes important to your quality of life. Fortunately, you’ll find desirable amenities within reach outside your immediate community.

Commuting

If you’re the typical California commuter, you’re thrilled that your Trumark home comes with a two-car garage. You can easily take your vehicle to Interstate 880, which heads north to Oakland and across the Bay Bridge to San Francisco. The highway also heads south to San Jose. If your destination is in Palo Alto or Redwood City, a Western jaunt across State Route 84 gets you across the bay to Palo Alto with connections to the 101.

Making your kids’ commute easier are three elementary schools: Louis Milani, Mattos, and Bunker. All three are within walking distance. Newark Memorial High is a short bus ride away.

Coffee

You need your coffee to jumpstart your day. You’ll find eight Starbucks franchises less than two miles of Timber with the nearest one on Mowry Avenue, just five minutes away by car. As a bonus with your cup of joe, CNN Money reports that homes closer to the coffee shop increased in value by 96 percent between 1997 and 2013, compared to a 65 percent jump for all residences in the country. Your investment in your home will get as much of a jolt as your body because of your location.

Shopping

When it’s time for you to shop for dinner, White Rice Supermarket is about a block away. You can get all the fixings for a standard meal, such as fruits and vegetables, as well as more exotic delicacies like Thai chili peppers or Vietnamese rice crackers. Need fresher produce? Newark Farmers Market is just two miles away. The quality of the offerings can vary from stall to stall, so be sure to wander around this large enterprise for the best deal. Other nearby sources of food include Lion Supermarket, Newark Grocery Outlet, Santa Fe Foods, and Newark Fish Market.

For more conventional goods, the 1.6 million square feet of NewPark Mall, boasts everything from clothing to cards. Sears, Macy’s and JCPenney anchor this shopping center, but you’ll also find such well-known brands as Aeropostale, Disney Store, Foot Locker, and the Body Shop. If you need a bite to eat, stop by Hi Seoul Korean Cafe, Anderson Bakery, Subway, or Dryer’s Ice Cream.

Fun

About three blocks southwest lies Birch Grove Park, which boasts 15 acres of play structures for kids, a fenced softball field, lighted tennis courts, and a basketball court. About two miles away is Civic Center Park, which houses the local branch of Alameda County Library within its five acres. If you want to get wet, drive your car for eight minutes to reach Lakeshore Park, which includes 16 acres of water and 10 acres of turf. You can fish here, although there are no restrooms and no motorized boats are allowed.

More sophisticated entertainment is about five miles away. Fremont has the Aqua Adventure with its pools and water slides. Get a taste of culture from the musical delights of the Fremont Symphony Orchestra or the stage shows at Broadway West Theatre Company or Star Struck Theatre. To learn about the history of the local area, head for Ardenwood Historic Farm.
